Flood woes continue, relief measures stepped up

While the state is reeling under the increasing problems of flash floods due to non-stop heavy rainfall for the past few days, various areas of the state has been impacted in a big way after most of the houses, trees were swept away by the fierce storm last night including hail.
Reports reaching from Noney states that most of the trees in and around Noney area were uprooted including landslide, mudslide and crumbling boulders and stones causing inconvenience to the locals.
Newly ploughed paddy fields and farms have been submerged under water while most of the temporary structures and huts have been swept away by the fierce storm damaging many vegetables and crops by the hail storms.
Due to the fierce storm last night, power has been cut off.
Schools and colleges have been closed due to inconvenience in travelling.
Report reaching here also said that people of Noney and its surrounding areas are waiting for help and support from the concern department and state government.
Meanwhile, major rivers in Imphal valley are still running high following the non-stop heavy rain that lashed the state for the last few days.
Man made flood were still seen in various places in and around Imphal areas where people have been suffering severe inconveniences due to the flash flood.
Many temporary sheds, huts and aged trees have been swept away and uprooted from the last night fierce storm which last several hours, including one of the few growing in the median near Kalimai mandir at Yiaskul, Moirangkhom.
Preventive measures have been taken up from the government side including distribution of relief materials at most of the flood affected areas in Imphal and its surrounding areas.
