Bodies wish New Year brings peace in Manipur

Imphal, December 31 2023: Makaam Foundation, Koireng (Koren) Youth Organisation, Mani pur (KYO-M), All Zeliangrong Students' Union, Assam, Manipur & Nagaland (AZSU-AMN) and Federal Students' Organisation, Kangleipak (FESOK) have extended their New Year greetings to the people of Manipur.

In a release, Makaam Foundation conveyed that the year) 2023 had been a tumultuous one for the people of Manipur with many precious lives lost in the ethnic conflict.

"It is sincerely hoped that the New Year, 2024 will usher in a new era of peace and justice for all sections of the society.

It is high time for the people of Manipur to set aside petty differences and get down to rebuilding the state in the truest sense of the term," it said and called for focusing on the commonalities than the differences.

"New Delhi or any other third party will not give solution to our problems.

We have to resolve the messes and problems that we have created for ourselves since the last few decades," it cautioned.

In its New Year message, KYO-M appealed to the government authority for immediate intervention in restoring normalcy and fostering peace in Manipur through amicable solution to the turmoil besieging in Manipur since May 3.On the other hand, AZSU-AMN expressed that year 2023 was an immense struggle and sorrow for the Zeliangrong community due to untimely demise of some promising leaders of AZSU.

"Regrettably, our land has transformed into a relentless battle zone, perpetuating an endless cycle of violence.

However, as we bid farewell to this year and prepare to embrace the new, let us make a firm commitment to begin anew and remain receptive to the blessings that shall pave the way for a brighter future.

May the approaching year unfold the fortitude necessary for good to triumph over evil, and may peace swiftly be restored to our land," it said.

Meanwhile, FESOK conveyed that the ongoing conflict has highly affected the life of people in the state including students, and wished that the year 2023 take away all the negativities and the incoming year 2024 bring peace, normalcy and all round development to all.
