Day after peace meet, Kuki militants attack Koutruk

Imphal, October 17 2024: Just a day after the Ministry of Home Affairs facilitated a peace meeting of Kuki, Naga and Meetei legislators in New Delhi, Kuki militants launched attack on Koutruk village from around Wednesday midnight from the nearby Koutruk Chingthak.

At about 11 pm, Kuki militants rained bullets and bombs on Koutruk, which the state and central forces deployed in the area retaliated resulting in exchange of fire till 2 am Thursday.

The bring continued intermittently till 5 am.

However, the bombs unleashed by Kuki militants from Koutruk Chingthak landed short of Koutruk village.

There is no report of any casualty and injury in the firing.

It may be mentioned here that a team of NIA visited Koutruk to probe drone bombing carried out by Kuki militants that claimed the life of young housewife and left her daughter injured besides wounding scores of locals and security personnel.
