Fanfare marks Mizo meet

The 26th Annual Conference of the Young Mizo Association (YMA), Manipur Group started today at Saikawt Community Hall, here amidst fanfare and a cultural extravaganza.
The two-day annual festivity of the Mizos was opened on a grand note by Lalchungnunga, president, Central Young Mizo Association, Mizoram.
The inaugural function was marked by presentation of songs by various artistes including top-graded crooners from Mizoram like Mami Varte, and showcasing of traditional dances by YMA Chhang (Children).
Speaking to mediapersons today, Mangcha Thangjom, vice-president of GYMA, Manipur, said that YMA is a philanthropic organization, having 22 branches in Manipur.
It is strictly guided by its principle of rendering service before self.
He said, the conference is being organized to foster unity and brotherhood among the tribes in the larger Mizo fold.
The conference brings together various Mizo communities cutting across state boundaries.
A 35-member delegation led by president of CYMA, Lalchunghnunga from Mizoram graced the conference.
"This is the first time I am attending the YMA conference.
I am glad that I could interact with so many people in the spirit of love and brotherhood," said Mami of Thingkangphai.
Another participant told this correspondent that the conference is a good platform to promote Mizo's tlawmngaihna (altruism).
The valedictory function on Thursday will be graced by PC Lawmkunga, IAS, Lalnunmawia, IAS and Jacintha Lazarus, DC, CCpur as the chief guest, functional president and guest of honour respectively while the chief host would be Tlangtinkhuma, IAS.
Local artistes like Zezem, PCL Thuoma, Bieklien, Ngaihching, Ginkhoson, Kailalmuon, LL Muona, will storm the stage along with artistes from Mizoram like Mami Varte, C Malsawmtluangi, Lalfakkimi (Mafaki), Lalramnghaki.
