Memorial anniversary of Guru Ibungo Sharma observed

Thoubal, May 02 2024: Guru Ibungo Sharma Sangeet Vidyalaya, Tentha Heibung organised the 17th Memorial Anniversary of Guru Ibungo Sharma and award presentation ceremony today.

The memorial and award presentation ceremony was held at Tentha Heibung Bamon Mandop in Thoubal district.

Former Arts and Culture Minister, Dr Moirangthem Nara Singh graced as the chief guest of the occasion while renowned poet Moirangthem Rajendra Singh and Sagolsem Joy graced as the president and guest of honour.

Speaking as the chief guest, Dr M Nara categorically stated that Manipur is well-known for its diverse and unique art and culture forms across the globe.

Maintaining that art and culture is of great significance in fostering an environment of peaceful co-existence among different communities, he highlighted the need of formulating a concrete policy for the promotion of art and culture.

As a part of its annual event, Guru Ibungo Sharma Sangeet Vidyalaya honoured Khongjom Parba singer Maibam Shyama Devi of Keishamthong Irom Pukhri Mapal and Waree Leeba artiste Yumnam Manglem Singh of Thoubal Athokpam Makha Leikai with a citation and a shawl each along with cash award of Rs 5,000 each.
