Rally and sit-in-protests demanding ILPS continue

Imphal, July 29 2015:
The unrest in the State continued with protesters demanding a concrete law to safeguard the indigenous population of the State.
While the State government has assured a new draft for a law to safeguard the indigenous people of Manipur, the demand of the Joint committee on Inner Line Permit System to include their five points is yet to be finalised.
As such, the agitation spearheaded by JCILPS is gaining momentum each passing day.
On Wednesday, Meitei Epa Epu Salai Enat Khongun Leeba Lup (MIISIKHOLL) took out a rally from Khurai Konsam Leikai Chingsoibi Laibung to Leirikyengbam Leikai and paid homage to the departed student protester Sapam Robinhood at his residence in Lairikyengbam Leikai.
The organisation also extended monetary help to the bereaved family.
Another rally organised by Khurai Heigrumakhong Yaipha Thouram Nupi Lup and Khurai Konsam Leikai passed through Khurai Lamlong bridge and marched on Ukhrul road upto Khurai Popular High schol.
Slogans like "Let's protect the indigenous people by implementing a strong ILPS" were used by the protesters.
Besides, coordinating body of ILPS Khurai staged a sit-in-protest at Khurai Thoudam Leikai.
Sit �in-protests were also held at Khurai Thangjam Leikai Lai Awangba area, Khurai Ahongei Government Primary School, Soibam Leikai, Keishamthong Moirang Ningthou Leirak, Keishamthong Aheibam Leirak, Bamon Leikai, Checkon, Moirangkhom bazar, Yaiskul Police Lane, Keishamthong Kabui Khul, Keishamthong Top Leirak, Hodam Leirak.
South East Asia Cultural Organisation in a press release stated that it will extend support to the JCILPS.
Moreover, protesters blocked Tiddim road and clanging of the electric posts was heard during the protest.
Police fired several rounds of tear gas shells to disperse the protesters.
The tussle between the agitators and police continued till 5 pm along the road.
