Jiribam, July 29 2015:
The 38-hour Manipur wide shutdown call given by Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed against the killing of Sapam Robinhood hit normal life in Imphal East's Jiribam subdivision on Wednesday, reported Jiri News Network.
Meanwhile, some 170 Imphal- bound loaded-trucks are now stranded at the subdivision's Leingangpokpi section of Imphal-Jiribam road due to the damaged Barak bridge.
Due to the general strike, a number of vehicles could not proceed in the subdivision.
The vehicles were scheduled to leave Jiribam for Imphal and Nungba in Tamenglong and Silchar and Cachar in Assam.

All educational institutes, both Government and private, banks, remained closed.
All business activities were suspended due to the strike.
Activists of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) Jiribam Branch blocked roads and shut all Government and private offices.
Jiri Police took up precautionary measures to prevent any untoward incidents during the strike.
However, the strike was by and large peaceful in the subdivision.
