Imphal, December 23 2010:
The total number of employees appointed on contract basis in 33 departments under the Manipur government is 3470, Chief Minister, O Ibobi said in the House of the Assembly today in reply to a query by MLA V Hangkhalian.
The CM said that out of the total 3470 contract employees, 98 are in the DRDO and the rest are all employees working in the Remote Sensing and Application Centre.
They are all seeking for regularisation of the appointments.
Replying to another question asked by opposition leader Radhbinod Koijam in regard to the non-availability of kerosene oil, Consumer Affairs Food and Public Distribution minister, Y Erabot said that it was due to a stock problem.
As the IOC is yet to replenish the stock of this fuel, the state still faces a short supply of kerosene.
The minister added that it will take two to three months to return to normalcy.
Radhabinod stressed on the importance of availibility of kerosene oil considering the worsening power supply problem.
