3 accused rapists, murderers released

A village court in Tamenglong District has allegedly ordered to free three village youths accused of raping and murdering of a 16-year-old girl.
The trio is now walking free since the village court acquitted them.
The accused are BL Abun (18), BT Salingba (18) and BT Aphang (19), all residents of Oktan Puichi village.
A team from BJP Manipur Pradesh Mahila Morcha led by its president RK Pramodini visited the house of the victim and met her father on Tuesday.
The team also included journalists.
The incident happened on June 4 night.
The girl was found hanging from the beam of an abandoned house located just 100 metre from her house.
"My daughter was raped and murdered by them inside the house.
The rapists then hung her body from the beam," the father of the girl said with tears in his eyes.
The village court which carries little official stamp within its territory, has also ordered that each alleged rapist must pay Rs 5 lakh to the aggrieved family by June 27.It has also decided to banish them from the village as punishment for the crime.
"The police have refused to take up any case.
I want to see them punished," the father said.
He also pledged to approach the law court for justice if the compensation is not paid by June 27 .
Pradesh Mahila Morcha leader Pramodini condemned the decision of the village authority to acquit the accused in the case and assured that the Morcha will take the help of the higher authorities to punish the accused.
