Imphal, July 05 2023:
The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has said that the statement given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the virtual summit of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) contradicts the programme and policy implemented in Manipur by the successive Governments of India.
As reported by DNA, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday told leaders of the SCO Nations that there must not be any double standard in combating terrorist activities and the bloc must not hesitate to criticise countries that support cross-border terrorism as part of State policy.
In a statement signed by its media coordinator Somorendro Thokchom , COCOMI conveyed that the Prime Minister made strong statements against funding cross border terrorism and terrorists during the SCO meet.
Claiming that the Government of India has been giving many privileges to Chin-Kuki terrorists from Myanmar, the Committee alleged that the Government of India seems to be giving logistic support to the narco terrorists to be engaged in widespread poppy cultivation in Manipur.
The Government is aware that these narco-terrorists have been threatening and demanding money from the civilians, COCOMI claimed and alleged that plans are also afoot to establish a permanent narco terrorist State in Manipur using different methods.
Claiming further that Kuki militants have been attacking civilians and their houses in foothill areas right under the nose of Central security forces, the Committee asked what understanding does the Government of India have with the Kuki militant groups under Suspension of Operation (SoO) pact.
Why is the Government of India not taking any strong action against Kuki militants who violate the ground rules of SoO pact and have been terrorising the civilians, apart from engaging in poppy cultivation, COCOMI asked.
Taking all these factors, it can be summed up that the Government of India has been sponsoring cross border terrorism, the Committee alleged and added that the statement of the Prime Minister shows the double standard nature of the Indian Government.
It is an insult to the people of Manipur, COCOMI said referring to the statement of Modi.
It also has become more evident that the Government of India indeed has a hidden agenda in Manipur as they have befriended Chin-Kuki narco terrorists and Kuki militants to attack its own Meitei citizens, the Committee alleged further.
Meanwhile, COCOMI has condoled the demise of Abujam Ronaldo (25) of Heirok Part III and shared the grief of the bereaved family.
