Kuki mothers back DPC successful candidates of primary teachers

Imphal, February 09, 2011: The Kuki Women Union, Manipur has decided to support the agitations of the selected Primary Teachers/HMT/HGT of the Education Department (S) in the DPC conducted in 2006. A statement of the KWUM signed by its president Rose Mangshi Haokip said that the executive members of the union has decided to support "the rightful stand of the forsaken primary teachers to fight against injustice and illegal practices in the matter of appointment to the post of Primary Teachers, who are denied of their appointment".

The selected candidates have gone through all the required process as per the rules of the government such as written test, viva-voce.

However, they are surprised to learn that their official appointment declaration are said to be null and void, the statement said.

In fact, the declaration of the results are within the knowledge of the then Education (S) director and Education minister respectively, the statement said adding that the union has learnt that those selected teachers will be appointed as contract teachers.

This is absolutely unlawful, it said.

The matter will give a great thirst for teachers in hill areas, both in primary and high school levels.

At this critical juncture, why the authorities are trying to victimized the successful candidates, the statement asked.
