Imphal, December 26 2010:
A man sustained injuries when a bomb exploded near the residence of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution minister, Y Erabot Singh at Khurai Thangjam Leikai under Porompat Police Station on Friday.
Thounaojam Angouba (33) son of Th Ibobi of Khurai Thangjam Leikai sustained splinter injuries in the right leg.
He was immediately rushed to JNIMS Hospital.
Police reports said that the bomb was exploded at a pond nearby the minister's residence where Angouba was fishing on Friday around 10.30 am .
Police suspected the bomb to be a lathod which failed to explode in one of the attacks launched by undergrounds at the house of the minister some time back.
The residence of the CAF&PD minister was under frequent bomb attacks in the last two year.
At least five attacks were conducted at the residence during the year 2009, police disclose.
Meanwhile, Lamphel police of Imphal West district recovered a China make hand grenade near the residential gate of director of state Commerce and Industries, Thaithuilung Pamei at Chingmeirong west on December 23 .
Three youths suspected to be KCP (Lamyanba Khuman) activists hurled the bomb around 8.30 am of the same day with an intention to explode and cause damage and death of human life, police charged.
A suo-motu case has been registered against unknown KCP activists under section 307/304 IPC, 20 UA(P)A Act and 4 Explosive Substance Act of the Lamphel Police Station, official source said today.
