Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh has called upon Seva Dal volunteers to ceaselessly contribute their mite in the restoration of peace and development of the State.
Addressing youth activists of the Congress party on the occasion of the Seva Dal's 87th Dal Day celebration at Congress Bhavan today, the Chief Minister reminded that Seva Dal volunteers have an important role to play in peace and progress of Manipur.
Listing solution of various issues afflicting the State as well as protection of the nation's integrity as the most crucial tasks and commitment of the Government, he stated that Seva Dal volunteers need to work with sincerity and dedication to strengthen the Congress party's concept and believe in secularism.
The CM also strongly suggested that proper training and guidance be provided to Seva Dal volunteers from the block level to the district level in order to enhance strength and number of volunteers.
Speaking on the occasion, MPCC president Gaikhangam described Seva Dal as a vital organ of the Congress party organisation.
Recounting a particular incident wherein security personnel denied access to 'verified' Seva Dal volunteers during the recent visit of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, Gaikhangam desired that the Chief Minister, who is also holds the home portfolio, take necessary steps to ensure Seva Dal volunteers do not face such an embarrashing situation.
