Troops of 43 Assam Rifles recovered a brand new Alto car (K-10) coming from Dimapur on NH-39, after it was hijacked by suspected KRA cadres from Taphou Kuki village area in Senapati district.
Official sources said that four suspects hijacked the car which was heading to Imphal with 11 other brand new Alto cars on Friday evening around 3 pm demanding ' one lakh for the return of the same.
The car belongs to Eastern Motor Authorised Dealer.
Keisham Abung (40) of Dimapur Chouteshori Manipuri Colony lodged a complaint with the Senapati police regarding the hijacking of the car driven by him from Dimapur.
Abung said that the four suspected KRA cadres stopped him and hijacked the car towards the western side of Taphou village.
They asked him to come with ' 1 lakh and to take back the vehicle.
Senapati police registered a case against the four unknown cadres.
On receiving information, troops of 43 Assam Rifles launched an extensive search operation at the adjoining villages along NH-39 .
They immediately opened two vehicle check posts on the highway to prevent the escape of the miscreants with the car.
The car was recovered from a bylane of Taphou Kuki village where the hijackers had abandoned it but none of the miscreants were apprehended, PRO, Defence Wing, Imphal said.
