Imphal, July 20 2015 :
A meeting of All Manipur Recognised Private School Association has decided to re-open schools from July 23 onwards to enable resumption of normal classes.
The association had earlier planned to re-open all schools from July 20, but it decided to extend solidarity and support to the on-going ILP agitation for two more days.
A press meet was held in this regard on Monday at Manipur Press Club, Imphal.
Speaking to mediapersons, association secretary L Joy Khuman said, "Our association has been supporting the ongoing agitation demanding implementation of ILP system in Manipur all this while.
But acknowledging the concern of the loss that the students are incurring due to shutting down of schools, we had decided to resume schools from Monday.
The situation is still grave now with the failure of the Government in meeting the demands raised by the JAC against the death of Sapam Robinhood" .
The secretary appealed the Government to come into an amicable solution with the JCILPS and JAC at the earliest.
Announcing its continuous support to the ILP issue, Joy also stated, "Even though classes will start from July 23, we will continue our support to the demand for ILP and the unfortunate death of Robinhood as all the students will wear black badges and will observe one-minute silence everyday till the demands are fulfilled.
The students will also shout slogans demanding ILP and justice for Robinhood every day" .
