Imphal, December 19 2010:
The decision of the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur on the issue of double enrolment by students of XII standards compels poor students in the state to drop out of Council examination this year, alleged All Manipur Recognised Plrivate Schools Welfare Association.
Chief Advisor of the association, N Tomba speaking at a press conference said that the council is imposing a fine of Rs 10,000 as penalty to those students of Standard XII who enrolled in two different schools at a time.
Around 50 students have paid the fine but there are many poor students among the 105 students found guilty for double enrolment.
They could not afford the imposed fine.
As such they are likely to unable to appear in the exam conducted by the council.
The council is forcing to drop out these poor students by charging a large amount, Tomba alleged and urged the council must re-reconsider its decision and reduce the amount keeping in view of their academic career.
On the other hand, the Board of Secondary Education Manipur has notified the last date of form fill up for the upcoming matric exam on December 23 and submit the result of examination test until February.
It does not mentioned of refunding the amount of form fill up if any student is failed in the test.
This may create chaos in the academic atmosphere of the state, asserted Tomba expressing concern over the matter.
