Fortnight Barrier Free Campaign kicks off

The opening ceremony of the 17th Fortnight Barrier Free Campaign 2024 was held today at Gheirap Court Complex, Uripok under the theme, "Equal Access Equal Opportunity".
Organised by the Handicapped Development (HD) Foundation, Manipur, the campaign which kicked off today is slated to conclude on October 31.The opening ceremony of the 15-day campaign was graced by Imphal West District & Session Judge, Yumkham Rothar; Imphal East District & Session Judge, Ningthoujam Lanleima; Imphal West Chief Judicial Magistrate, Ashem Tarunkumari Devi and Imphal East Chief Judicial Magistrate, Sorokhaibam Sadananda as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Laishram Bina, general secretary of HD Foundation Manipur, said that the campaign was organised with the aim to spread awareness about the rights and protection of differently abled persons.
While acknowledging the extraordinary and unique qualities of the differently abled persons, she appealed to all to extend all possible help to such persons for their upliftment and not to stigmatise them.
Dr Bina further called for collective participation for the successful conduct of the campaign.
As part of the event, posters and leaflets of 17th Fortnight Barrier Free Campaign 2024 were also released.
