Imphal, February 09, 2011: A medical camp was organized by 30 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Red Shield Division at border village of Songdai in Thinghat sub-division on February 9, a statement of the PIB (DW), Imphal said today.

The novelty of the camp was its location, being situated on the border with Myanmar, it was an opportunity for the people from across to avail of the facility.

The camp had been conceived keeping in mind the poor connectivity of the area and the complete lack of infrastructure which made the aggrieved locals traverse long distances for basic medical care.

The camp was organized at a large scale to cater to the medical needs of the locals from the villages in the area.

The team also distributed prophylactics and literature on safe sex practices, the statement said.

The camp was a huge success, a total of 300 people from Sangdai, Lungchin, Ngalijang, Tuikui Mullam, Lungthul E, Twelkhiang, Sondo and Enpum attended the camp to seek medical aid.

The team of doctors and medical assistants addressed the locals and gave them advice on everyday hygiene practices and save sex, it added.
