International Workers' Day celebrated

As observed across the globe, All India Trade Union Congress, Manipur State Committee (AITUC/MSC) celebrated International Workers' Day at THAU ground, Thangmeiband yesterday on the theme, "Social Justice And Decent Work For All Successful Struggles Of Workers".
Representatives of more than 64 worker/ labour organisations participated in the event presided by Dr M Nara, president of AITUC Manipur.
The celebration began with the offering of floral tributes to the departed labourers and members of the Unions.
AITUC/MSC secretary Kh Rajendro delivered the welcome address while the keynote address was given by AITUC/MSC general secretary L Sotinkumar.
CPI Manipur executive member, RK Amusana; All Manipur ASHA Workers' Union president, Th Pumimasi Devi; Anganwadi Workers, Helpers And Mini Workers Union Manipur co-ordinator, RK Sunanda Devi; Mid Day Meal Workers' Manipur convenor, M Rupomala Devi; Ima Panthoibi Street Vendor Union secretary, S Indira Devi; CPI Manipur state secretary, L Thoiren; and Manipur Loumee Lup president, N Singhajit also spoke on the occasion.
As part of the event, the gathering unanimously resolved to put forward 11 demands of the working class and pressure the Government to fulfil them at the earliest.
Similarly, the United Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Union also celebrated International Workers' Day at its premises in Singjamei yesterday.
It was attended by All Manipur Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Union president, Tekcham Nando; social activist Laimayum Shantikumar and United Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Union president Mongbijam Sunita as presidium members.
Felicitation of 7 media persons and 21 Labour Card holders was the main highlight of the event.
