Imphal, July 15 2022: Keishamthong AC MLA Nishikant Singh Sapam today laid the foundation stone of the Meira Sporting Union at Kwakeithel Ingkhol Lamhang Leirak and this is the first work taken up with his Local Area Development Fund (LADF) .

Speaking at the occasion, Nishikant said that a new office building of the Meira Sporting Union would be constructed from his LADF as promised before the last Assembly election.

The office building of the youth club would be constructed in a magnificent manner and the same would be shown by action, he said.

He reiterated that LADF accounts would be maintained in a very transparent manner.

Nishikant informed the gathering that around 60 roads of Keishamthong AC have been surveyed for initiating construction/repairing works.

Construction or repairing of roads cannot be done in one step.

The roads were surveyed by engineers engaged for the same by Team Nishikant, the MLA said.

He said that a proposal would be submitted to the Government for construction/repairing of these roads.

At present, six major roads which are located within Keishamthong Assembly segment are being constructed/repaired under the Government's 100 Days Action Plan, Nishikant said.

He assured that construction/repairing of most roads would be completed within the next two years and a half or three.

"I talked about Waisel Maril with the Chief Minister recently and the Chief Minister assured to construct retaining wall along the course of the canal", Nishikant conveyed.

In spite of the heavy rainfall witnessed in the State sometime back, most parts of Keishamthong AC remained free of inundation except for a few low-lying areas, he said.

This was possible because of Team Nishikant's continuous efforts to de-clog and de-silt Waisel Maril.

The Government did clean the canal once but Team Nishikant continued the de-silting and de-clogging work repeatedly, he said.

But the Government and the MLA alone cannot keep Waisel Maril and other drainage systems neat and clean.

The citizens, particularly those residing on either side of these canals have huge responsibilities in keeping the drainage systems free from solid wastes and liquid pollutants, Nishikant asserted.

He said that he joined politics to serve the public, not with any intention to earn money or build a career and reiterated that he would keep his election promises of staying away from all forms of corruption and contract works.

"I will discharge my duties of being an MLA to the optimum level and ensure people enjoy their rights and shares by 100 per cent", Nishikant asserted.

"Some people were saying that the MLA could not be seen but I did not remain idle.

Yes, I could not meet people for sometime due to some personal reasons but now I'm meeting everyone, if there are good reasons", he said.

"I think engaging in action is more important than showing oneself around to the people", he continued.

He also cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's instruction to his Council of Ministers to show their dedication to the people's cause by action in addition to making their presence felt through media.
