Restore life after burns theme rings out loud

The 'World Plastic Surgery Day-2022' was observed today at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal under the theme 'Restore Life after Burns' .
The observance organised by the Department of Plastic Surgery, RIMS and supported by Rotary Club of Imphal was graced by Keishamthong AC MLA Nishikant Singh Sapam; RIMS Director Prof Ahanthem Santa Singh, Medical Superintendent of RIMS Prof Nepram Sanjib Singh, and Rotary Club of Imphal president Rtn Pramod Jaiswal as presidium members.
At the occasion, Nishikant Singh thanked all doctors and nurses for taking care of the burn victims tirelessly and striving to boost their confidence.
The MLA also presented a simple gift each to 12 burn survivors who are undergoing treatment at RIMS and inspected the under construction Operation Theatre of the healthcare institute along with Prof A Santa.
Nishikant donated Rs 15,000 to the Plastic Surgery Department of RIMS.
Prof Santa Singh said that the World Plastic Surgery Day is observed on July 15 every year to raise awareness about the role of plastic surgeons in society.
The RIMS Director said that a six hour long thumb transplant surgery was done for a child from Ukhrul at the institute recently.
Prof Santa also stated that a newly constructed burn unit will also be inaugurated shortly at RIMS.
Prof Sanjib Singh said that the Department of Plastic Surgery in association with Rotary Club of Imphal has been organising this particular programme since the last eight years successfully to give assistance to the burn victims.
Later, sweets were distributed to the patients undergoing treatment for burns in the department.
Financial assistance was also handed over to the few needy patients undergoing post-burn corrective surgeries.
