Join liberation movement, UNLF exhorts people - II

Another important point is that UNLF MAC would like to appeal to all the communities in Manipur for mass participation in the ongoing liberation movement for achieving the goal, the statement of the UNLF's acting chairman Kh Pambei further said.
Without the participation of the people, the liberation movement would not be successful.
So, the people should take forward the proposal of plebiscite moved by UNLF for resolving the Manipur-India conflict.
For this it is important for the public to stand firm and carry forward the movement, Pambei exhorted.
Pambei observed that if India believes in the true principle of democracy, then it should accept the 4-point proposal for plebiscite to test and decide whether the movement of UNLF in Manipur is for the liberation of the people or just the activities of some war mongers.
This challenge should be accepted.
If India accepts the proposal to hold a plebiscite, it is inevitable that a new face of Manipur can be seen.
At that time, every communities in Manipur would be able to ensure protection of their respective identities and mutual respect for each other.
Along with an administration founded on the principle of autonomy at every level, participation of representatives from even communities having just 300 population would be ensured in the administration for all round developmental activities of their respective communities.
However, after Manipur has been annexed by India, all the communities in Manipur have been leading a life no better than death and there is the fear of dominating the indigenous people by the ever increasing influx of Indian people.
Today, the population of outsiders has crossed 8 lakh.
This is one-third of the entire population of the State.
In the next 10 years, the population of the outsiders may become half of the total population reducing the indigenous people to the status of minority.
In such a situation, the only means for our own survival is to take part in the ongoing liberation movement for right to self-determination.
So, all the communities should play their part and carry out their responsibility in resolving the Manipur-India conflict, Pambei reiterated his appeal.
Pambei went on to say that attainment of independence by East Timor after holding a plebiscite and more recently, the liberation of South Sudan after a referendum should be remembered.
