Imphal, December 31 2023:
Interna-tional Peace & Social Advancement (IPSA) vice president Khuraijam Athou-jam has claimed that India has failed to protect the Meitei people from the violent campaign and onslaught of Kuki narco-terrorists.
He also said that the Meitei people put much faith in India and overlooked the necessity for military preparedness after the merger with India.
Athouba who is also the assistant coordinator of Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) made the statements at a reception cere- mony of the long march being carried out by Mani-pur Youth League (MAYOL) held at Lamlong Higher Secondary School at Khurai Lamlong Bazar today.

The long march held under the theme of National regeneration reached Lam-long Bazar today.
It began from Sagolmang.
At the function, Athouba continued that Manipur was once an independent kingdom in South East Asia formed by Meiteis and some smaller groups.
Meiteis played the central role in the establishment of Kangleipak, he added.
Saying that Manipur stayed as an independent entity for about 5,000 years, Athouba maintained that Manipur, apart from having a rich legacy, has its own culture and script.
Unfortunately, Manipur lost its spirit of being an independent kingdom with its own army and economy after the merger with India, he claimed and added that Manipur has become a confused society in all aspects now while the elected leaders are visionless .
Expressing desire to groom a strong National character among the people again and make Manipur a vibrant society once again, Athouba said that MAYOL's long march on National regeneration is very appropriate and timely.
Associate Prof of DMU Dr Arambam Noni, KSA president Sukham Bidya-nanda and Kanglamei presi- dent Y Leirik Leima too attended the programme.
