Thousands gather to celebrate Liangmai Christian Centenary

Thousands of Liangmai people gathered at Tamei in Tamenglong district for "Liangmai Christian Centenary" from December 15 to December 17 .
The event was a three-day mammoth gathering where Liangmai people from far and near came to celebrate the event.
"When the Gospel of Christ was delivered into the land of Liangmai, young Maisiging Newmai, born of Hulungbou Newmai from Taningjam village, embraced the gospel on September 16, 1923.He was the first son of Liangmai to become Christ's follower and gradually as his faith grew stronger, he began to evangelize his people into the gospel," said the Liangmai Christian Centenary Celebration (LCCC), committee, Manipur in a statement.

Reckoning the journey of his Christianity from the day he accepted Jesus as his personal saviour, the whole Liangmai Christianity roots to his date of conversion, LCCC committee said.
The centenary celebration was held under the theme, 'Heritage of God's Love � Tingwang Lungsa Luiwangbo' with a variety of events and worship services.
The grand event was spearheaded by Liangmai Naga Baptist Association, Manipur, as the organizer in collaboration with other Christian denominations within Liangmai.
Music, exhibitions of traditional items, exhortations from dignified personnel, prayers and blessings and most importantly, dynamic sermons from God anointed servants, Rev Dr Peter Thiumai, president and founder, Baptist Graduate School of Theology and Mission, Assam and Rev Kitanwi Chewang, Executive Secretary of Liangmai Baptist Association, Nagaland, marked the three-day occasion, the LCCC added.
