A state level essay competition on the topic "Fight Against Corruption" for graduate and post graduate students will be organised under the aegis of the Senior Citizens for Society.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, coordinator of Senior Citizens for Society Dr Moirangthem Nara said that the essay competition is under its campaign against corruption.
He said that interested students may submit their entries on or before June 18 at the office of the society located at Nagamapal RIMS corner.
The entries may be in English or Manipuri but should not exceed 2000 words, he explained.
The best three entries will be awarded cash prizes of Rs 2000, Rs 1500 and Rs 1000 respectively besides certificates.
The next best two entries will receive consolation prize of Rs 700 each, he said.
Prizes will be distributed on June 22 at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen at Palace Compound.
During the prize distribution which would also feature cultural programmes, the prize winning participants will be given the chance to read out their essays, Dr Nara said.
Taking part in the press meet, president of the society N Binoy said that the essay competition is aimed at assessing the views and opinions of students on corruption and to generate certain ideas on anti-corruption movement.
Binoy said that the initiative is aimed at generating certain ideas which would help save Manipur.
