143 Bn CRPF honours family members of CRPF martyrs

Imphal, January 30 2024:
143 Battalion CRPF observed Martyrs' Day at Battalion Headquarters at Lamphelpat to pay tribute to the brave souls who sacrificed their lives for the cause of Nation's freedom and independence.
A press note by 143 Bn CRPF said that during the event, family members of martyrs of CRPF who selflessly laid down their lives during active operations against militancy were honoured by Ravinder Sharma, Commandant 143 Bn CRPF.
The family members of martyrs of CRPF namely Shaheed Manoranjan Singh of 201 Bn, Shaheed CT/GD S Sanjit Singh of 44 Bn, Shaheed CT/GD Md Latif of 133 Bn and Shaheed CT/GD H Punshi Singh of 50 Bn were honoured today.

Shaheed Manoranjan Singh of 201 Bn sacrificed his life while leading an operation against Maoist in Sighanmadgu village, Dantewada, Chattisgarh on September 17, 2009 .
He was also awarded the Police Medal for Gallantry.
Shaheed CT/GD S Sanjit Singh of 44 Bn attained martyrdom when insurgents ambushed the troops of 44 CRPF who were on an operation at Moirang Khunou village, Kumbi Police Station in Bishnupur district on February 17, 2002 .
Shaheed CT/GD Md Latif of 133 Bn laid down his life during a fierce encounter with insurgents when they were returning after an operation in Imphal on September 24, 1997 while Shaheed CT/GD H Punshi Singh of 50 Bn succumbed to his injuries during an encounter with insurgents on December 27, 1997 .
