Imphal, October 12 2010:
Consequent upon landslides, sinking of roads and dislocation of bridges along the road connecting Lukhambi and Kajinglong in Tamenglong district by incessant rainfall in the last few days, around seven villages of Aring area have been cut off from other parts of the district.
A press release issued by the Aring Area Development Committee said that villagers of this area have been enduring severe hardships and are facing starvation as there are no means of communication or roads to transport essential commodities to these areas.
It appealed to the authority concerned to take up necessary actions immediately to address the plight of the villagers.
