BJP leaders clean road on Gandhi Jayanti in Kpi

Kangpokpi, October 03 2020: In observance of Gandhi Jayanti yesterday, BJP leaders and villagers of Harup area in Irang Part-II embarked on cleaning the deplorable and muddy 13 Kms long Chawangkining - Gorkha Tapon road in Kangpokpi District.

Led by Jonathan Tao, vice-president, BJP Manipur in-charge of Kangpokpi District, the cleanliness program was participated by BJP Vikas Basnet, Executive Member ADC Sadar Hills, Sagar Gewali, Member ADC Sadar Hills and Tingnei Lhouvum, president, BJP Kangpokpi Mandal along with large number of villagers in the area.

The BJP leaders and the villagers engaged in cleaning and renovating the said deplorable road from Harup Naga to Bajagara village, District Council Constituency.

The initiative was taken up considering the plights of the people dwelling in Harup area owing to the deplorable road condition said Jonathan Tao.

He continued that the 13 Kms long road is the lifeline of thousands of people from more than 18 villages but due to its pathetic condition, people in this area are facing tremendous hardships and grievances especially during monsoon season.

He also said that people have to carry sick person from the area in a manmade stretcher to reach to the hospital for treatment as the road is not motorable owing to its condition.

The social service on this Gandhi Jayanti along this road is to draw the attention of the concerned Department and the State Government to address the plights of the people by renovating the road, he maintained.

The local MDC, BP Vikas Basnet, Executive Member of ADC Sadar Hills on behalf of the people also drew attention of the concerned Department and State Government to revamp the road at the earliest.

Questioning the Government on whether the construction work of the road is put on hold owing to the rainy season or by the concerned contractor, the ADC Sadar Hills councilor appealed the State Government to pressure the concerned contractor of the PMGSY road construction work along this road for early completion in larger interest of the public.
