Showing keen interest in the Autonomous District Council elections, Chandel A/C MLA Thangkholun Haokip stated that there is the need for the RJD to start preparations for the ADC polls from now onwards so that the party assumes power in District Councils.
Speaking at a meeting of the party's Hill District Council at the Sanjenthong residence of RJD Chandel district president Limjalet Haokip today, Thangkholun exuded that RJD can score commendable victory if the party is strengthened in all the hill districts.
He further claimed that coalition partners of the SPF Govt��Congress, CPI and RJD, are working together under a mutual understanding.
Maintaining that there is no binding condition that RJD MLAs should be Ministers, Thangkholun hailed CM O Ibobi as working sincerely in the interest of the people.
He further called upon the bigger tribes to ensure success of candidates belonging to smaller tribes in the ADC polls.
This would not only enhance trust among the different ethnic groups but would also help in accelerating development, the MLA said.
RJD vice-president Chungkhei Haokip called upon the party workers to ensure that RJD grasp power in District Councils which strength has been increased to 28 from the previous 18 including two Govt nominees.
RJD district presidents and secretaries of Churachandpur, Chandel and Sadar Hills exuded that the party will be able to claim power in District Councils.
