Imphal, June 06:
With the Government only giving a cosmetic relaxation to the ban on entry of vehicles in the bazar areas, pharmacies located outside the main bazar areas are running short of medicines including life saving drugs.
In a statement, president of Bazar Board Amrik Singh Pahwa said that the retailers have to procure their medicines from the whole sellers whose shops are located at Thangal bazar, Paona bazar, MG Avenue, where a ban on entry of vehicles has been imposed.
Moreover not all medicines are available with one stockist, said the statement.
Following the shortage, the Manipur Chemists and Druggists Association called on Pahwa and discussed the matter, said the statement and added that they were of the opinion than an indefinite bandh should be launched.
However Pahwa urged them not to go in for the bandh and instead keep on pressurising the Govt. The statement further informed that one aged lady passed away after a heart attack as she could not be taken immediately to a health centre as there were
no vehicles.
She passed away on June 1.The Bazar Board had earlier expressed deep regret over the failure of the CM to keep his words and lift the ban.
