Patriot's Day observed in districts

Imphal, August 13 2019: The 128th Patriot's Day was celebrated across districts commemorating the heroes who gave their lives for independent Manipur.

Bishnupur: District administration Bishnupur observed the day at the premises of Panchayat Resource Centre, Mini Secretariat Complex.

DC Buishnupur Neeta Arambam, SP Bishnupur Hopson Sapam, JNV Bishnupur students, officers and staff of various departments paid tribute to martyrs at the event.

United Youth's Club Waheng Khuman also observed the day felicitating students who have cleared Class X and XII examinations.

The event at UYC Waheng Khuman ground was attended by MLA Nambol AC N Loken Singh, Leimapokpam ZP member L Jiten, Ishok Gram Panchayat Up-Pradhan Laishram Arun, MU Asst Professor N Sanatomba, president MSF Ng Milan and founder secretary Pakchao Memorial English School L Amujao as presidium members.

St Xavier's School Moirang too observed the patriots' day and launched official website of the school.

Former MLA M Prithviraj Singh, who attended the event as chief guest, feted Rohan Philem, a former student of the school, who undertook a 3,500 km cycle journey from Kashmir to Kanyakumari on the theme - 'water for life'.

Students of the school presented different cultural programmes to mark the day.

Chandel: District administration Chandel observed the day at the DRDA hall, DC complex Chandel.

Today's observance started with the floral tributes and two minutes silence in honour of the martyrs.

DC Chandel and many other officials attended the event.

Jiribam: PPANL, JDO, AMSU, JIMPAL and CADA, Jiribam observed the day at Ancestral Heroes' Memorial Complex, Ningsingkhun Biodiversity Park, Jiribam.

Bijoy Kakchingtabam, president, AMWJU, Dr Arunkumar Mangang, chairman, PPANL and K Sarat Kumar Singh, vice chairman, Manipur Food Industries Corporation Ltd, S Maniton Singh, retd Principal, JHSS, H Mema Devi, president, JIMPAL attended the event.

A painting competition for school children marked the event.

S Inunganbi Chanu of Jiri Public English School, Ksh Gung Singh of Little Angel English School and A Premananda Singh of RK Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively.

Seven participants were also awarded consolation prizes.

Jiribam Govt Higher Secondary School, NEIDP Jiribama and Smart Society, Jiribam Unit and Echel Club, Dibong also observed the day.

Kakching: In Kakching, the day was celebrated at Bal Vidya Mandir Kakching with Y Khogen Singh, N Munal Meitei and N Amuyaima Singh as presidium members.

Martin Grammar School Kakching too celebrated the patriot's day with a motivational talk for students at its campus.

Martin Grammar School Headmaster M Manihar, MU Professor N Rajmuhon and motivational speaker Dr Dhanabir Laishram talked at the event.

CHC (Community Health Centre) Kakching and Sunshine Preschool and Day Care Wabagai Thingel jointly observed patriots' day with various health awareness programmes for school children.

CHC, Kakching MO in-charge Dr Usham Arunkumar attended the event.

Liberty Theatre, Kakching too observed the day at the premises of Library and Information Centre, Kakching with DC Kakching Valentina Arambam, president, Liberty Theatre Y Satya, and president, Macha Chanu, Kakching Dr N Pramodini as presidium members.

A drama on Bir Tikendrajit was also presented by artistes to mark the event.

All Kakching Students Union (AKSU) also observed the day at its office and paid tribute to martyrs.

Kakching Khunou Youth talent Hunt Organisation observed the say at Kakching Khunou Chekshapat Mandap.

Various competitions- poem recitation, quiz and debate were held for school children.

Kh Gojendro Singh, Councillor Ward No 8, A Bimolchand Singh, Councillor Ward No 7 and Th Raman Singh, president KYTHO attended the event as presidium members.

Kangpokpi: District Administration Kangpokpi also observed Patriot's Day today at the Multipurpose Hall of Deputy Commissioner's Office at Kangpokpi.

DC Kangpokpi Lalithambigai K led the officials in paying floral tributes to the portraits of martyrs.

ADC, Kangpokpi Lalramsang Infimate, SDO Kaigoulal Kipgen and other officers and staff also attended the function.

Senapati: In Senapati district, Patriot's Day was observed at Thangal General Ecological Park with laying of floral wreaths to the great patriots of the past.

The programme was organised by the Thangal Union under the aegis of the United Naga Council and attended by Kho John, president, UNC as the chief guest, Solomon Arow, president, Naga People's Organisation and YK Kaping, president, Thangal Union (TU) as president.

Former TU president Dr Chand Thangmi, executives of the UNC, ANSAM, Naga Women's Union, Tribe presidents, social leaders, religious leaders and mass attended the program.

Thoubal: District Administration Thoubal also observed the patriot's day at DC Complex Thoubal.

DC Thoubal N Bandana Devi, Thoubal ZP Adakshya Hasina Begum, Chairperson TMC Th Shyamo Singh, SP Thoubal S Ibomcha attended the event.

BJP Thoubal district too observed the day at its office near Thoubal Police Station.

BJP Thoubal district president L Deben Singh and various members and party workers including L Tejkumar Singh, P Premananda Meetei, Ch Umakanta and others attended the event.

Wangamataba Youth Club (WYC) and TUPACA Thoubal observed the patriots' day at WYC ground, Thoubal.

Poem recitation competition of school children marked the event.

Tengnoupal: ACODOM, MCM, Kha Nongpok Apunba Nupi Lup, Nupi Khunai Chaokhat Lamjing Lup and five Leikais of Moreh observed the patriots' day at Ima Kondong Lairembi Haraobung, Moreh.

The gathering observed two minutes silence.

Tributes were paid to martyrs.
