Churachandpur, April 24 2021:
A meeting of JAC Medical Fraternity Churachandpur, officials of the local administration and representatives of Joint Adhyakshas of Zilla Parishad Manipur conducted yesterday managed to find a settlement with the later assuming work effectively.
The attack of a female health worker on her way to Covid vaccination centre by bandh supporters at Phougakchao on April 22 led to the formation of the JAC with the district health workers staging a sit-in protest and ceasing work, including COVID-19 related activities yesterday.
With no response from the State Government, the JAC earlier stated that they will continue with their agitation until an amicable solution was found.
However, events that unfolded later in the evening quickly changed the scenario as the local administration along with the representatives of Joint Adhyakshas of Zilla Parishad Manipur and Medical Department managed conduct a formal talk at around 9pm at the Conference Hall of District Hospital, Churachandpur.
The talk concluded around midnight with a settlement wherein the Joint Adhyakshas offered unconditional apology over the unfortunate mistake committed by its volunteers and also agreed to pay a token of Rs 1,75,000 to the victim for her medical expense and repairing the damaged vehicle.
The JAC on their part agreed to immediately suspend their agitation.
Accordingly, all the health facilities in the district have resumed services today.
