Imphal, July 30 2022:
While decrying the decision of the state government to allot grace mark of only 10 in recruitment exam to Covid warriors, who have been fighting the pandemic by risking their lives, All Manipur Covid Warriors' Association (AMCWA) has categorically asserted that they did not risk their lives in such critical times for 10 marks.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here on Saturday, AMCWA president Sinam Rajasana recalled the statement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give special priority to Covid warriors who completed 100 days of service during the pandemic at the time of recruitment and expressed remorse that contrary to what the PM had assured the state government intends to provide only 10 marks.
While urging the government to take up relevant initiatives which will secure the future of Covid warriors, Rajasana said that the government conducted emergency recruitment by taking a month during the first and second wave of Covid-19 pandemic.
The statement of health minister made in the ongoing assembly session to provide 10 grace marks to Covid warriors during recruitment is unfortunate, he said.
Further pointing out that the government assured to pay honorariums to Covid warriors till March 25, he also alleged that they were terminated from service by the government through backdated order on March 16 .
As such, claiming March 16 as last day of duty in the assembly session is unfortunate, he denounced.
Rajasana further urged the government to enquire with the CMOs as to authenticate whether Covid warriors continued to work or not till March 25 .
