VC appeals, points finger at MUSU, MUTA

Manipur University Vice Chancellor Prof Adya Prasad Pandey has appealed yet again to the student leaders, teachers' and non-teaching employee representatives to come forward for an open dialogue by keeping their self-interests aside for the welfare of the students and the university.
A press release issued by the PRO office, MU said that locking the doors of university offices and departments will not serve any purpose.
Rather, it is jeopardising the career of thousands of students of the State by plunging the entire academic activities into complete halt.
Due to this on-going agitation launched by MUSU and MUTA, no progressive works of the university can be performed specially the semester examinations of Post Graduate and examination results of the undergraduate students.
Undergraduate examinations were over in April and May.
MUSU launched the agitation at the wrong time and they are messing around with the students' academic career.
They are immune to the sentiments of the students and their guardians in pursuit of their own interests, it said.
MUSU and MUTA have taken the career of thousands of students as granted.
MUTA will not get affected as they continue to enj oy their salary even while the entire university is defunct.
Only the students are at the receiving end.
These agitators are deceiving the public as well as the other students' organisations with false propaganda and mediated news and information, the PRO said.
The root cause of the agitation is a huge amount of money MUSU demanded from the Vice-Chancellor for publishing MUSU's annual magazine 2017-18.They approached for money just after the conclusion of "University Week".
MUSU wanted to take the amount directly from the VC but, according to the financial procedure, the Vice-Chancellor referred the amount to purchase committee of the University.
This infuriated MUSU and they unfortunately resorted to locking the offices to express their anguish.
But this time they are risking so much for money at the cost of thousands of students' academic career of the State, it said.
MUSU was quite happy till the end of Manipur University Week.
MUSU is trying to befool the public and all the truth will come out in public sooner or later, continued the PRO.
The Vice-Chancellor also appealed to the public not to have faith in their hidden agenda and not to extend support in their agitations as this will lead to disaster of the students' career.
Causing harm to the students' careers, blame game and threatening tactics by MUSU and MUTA should be stopped immediately.
They should withdraw their agitation and come forward without any conditions to discuss any grievances if they really want to resolve the issue instead of resorting to undemocratic agitations and false propaganda.
"Let's resolve any differences thorough proper dialogue and engagement", the VC appealed.
