Kohima, November 30 2014 :
Following an appeal made by Nagaland Governor P B Acharya, the Eastern Naga Students' Federation (ENSF) has temporarily suspended its proposed boycott of the Statehood Day celebration in four districts of Nagaland.
ENSF took the decision following an appeal by the Nagaland Governor and after a meeting held at Raj Bhavan here on Friday, ENSF president Shahsha L Menhahu and general secretary Honang M Jessuhu said in a statement today.
Nagaland will celebrate 51st Statehood Day coinciding with the Hornbill Festival tomorrow.
The statement said the decision was made considering the appeal made by the Governor and in the larger interest of Nagas to honour Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the state.
ENSF acknowledged the concern expressed by the Governor that the eastern areas (Tuensang and Mon districts) since the time of P Shilu Ao, first Chief Minister of Nagaland, needed more attention.
