Don Bosco College (Autonomous), Maram organized a State Level Seminar cum Science Fest on "Current Trends in Science and Technology" on March 6 and 7 at the Science Block Seminar Hall.
The event, hosted by the Departments of Biotechnology, Botany, Chemistry, Computer Science, Physics and Zoology, brought together eminent experts, research scholars, students, and professionals for an engaging discussion on the latest advancements in the various fields of sciences.
The seminar was inaugurated by Rev Fr Dr KO Sebastian, Principal, Don Bosco College (Autonomous), Maram who welcomed the attendees and felicitated the resource persons.
The resource persons touched upon many important topics.
Dr Sivakumar Vijayaraghavalu, Associate Professor, Department of Life Sciences (Zoology), Manipur University addressed the topic "Epigenetic Etiology of human diseases"; Dr Sankaranarayanan Nagarajan, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, Former HOD and Associate Dean (R&C), National Institute of Technology Manipur spoke on "Heterogeneous catalysis and Environmental pollution"; Dr Bungdon Shangningam, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, Dhanamanjuri University, Imphal on "Biodiversity and climate change"; Dr Sr Bindu Thomas, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, Don Bosco College (Autonomous), Maram, Manipur on "Methanolic Extract of Passiflora edulis, F flavicarpa as a reducing agent for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles and its biological and antioxidant activity" and Dr Sougrakpam Neli, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, Don Bosco College (Autonomous), Maram, Manipur on "Insects as source of food of Maram, Senapati, Manipur" .
The students of the college and the scholars and staff participated in a question-and-answer session on the first day.
Day two of the event featured power-point presentation, photography and quiz competitions.
The winners of the competitions were awarded cash prizes and certificates.
