20 AR and villagers of Bongyang village joined hands and constructed a two-room Lower Primary School.
Inaugurating the newly constructed school, DIG 26 Sector AR Brig Balbir Singh said that the school would serve as a role model for all other villages not only in Chandel district but in the entire State.
He emphasised that good education to all is one of the most effective ways of solving insurgency in the State.
Assam Rifles also donated two water tanks of capacity 500 litres to Lamkang Khunou and Sinam village.
Earlier children from five villages had to walk 8 kms till Pallel but with the construction of the new school, the children would now get more time to study and their hardships greatly reduced.
GOC 3 Corps Lt Gen RK Loomba during his visit to Pallel donated Rs 20,000 to the Corner Stone Academy for education of five children belonging to economically backward families who have been adopted by 26 Secor AR.
