Two-day training programme on food processing concludes

The valedictory ceremony of the two-day residential training programme on "Food processing and value addition of fruits and vegetables" organised by Sushila Foundation for Agricultural and Rural Development (SFARD) in collaboration with KVK Bishnupur was held today at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Utlou.
The training programme was organised under the Central sector scheme "Formation and Promotion of 10,000 FPOs" Manipur Phase-II supported by the North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation (NERAMAC) .
Altogether 35 participants from seven FPCs (Farmer Producer Companies), namely, Emeo FPC, Chilivai Phaibung FPC, Willong FPC, Lepaona FPC, Marachi Hilltop FPC, Mayo FPC and Tasengba FPC attended the training programme.
The valedictory ceremony was inaugurated by Dr Brajamani Meitei, Senior Scientist and Head of KVK, Utlou; M Imo, representative of NERAMAC, Manipur; Dr N Bandana Devi, KVK Scientist and Pritam Moirangthem, State Head Sushila Foundation for Agricultural and Rural Development.
During the programme, a team led by Dr N Bandana Devi gave a demonstration and practical training on the various processing and preservative techniques for making juice, pickle, candy and sauce from fruits and vegetables such as lemon, amla, king chilli (oo morok), mixed vegetables, tomato etc.
"This will help FPCs to start their own processed packaging products under their FPCs name", she said.
The training programme concluded with a final session.
In addition, certificates were distributed to all 35 participants from different FPCs.
