Expressing serious concern over the hefty monetary demands served on transporters, leading to the suspension of passenger bus services, frequently, the proscribed PREPAK today urged all concerned, including the media to name the outfits concerned as not naming them has the potential to throw all the armed outfits in the wrong light.
In a statement, the publicity secretary-in-charge of the outfit Kh Chingkhei Meitei said that the huge monetary demands served on the transporters have gravely affected the free movement of goods and people as left with no option, the transporters are forced to suspend service and even stage protest dharna.
Asserting that PREPAK has never demanded money from the transporters and will not do so in the future, the outfit however asked all the concerned as well as the media to name the outfits responsible for serving the monetary demands.
Not naming the outfits concerned has only added to the all round confusion and painted all armed outfits with the same brush, it said.
Sharing the trouble being faced by brick kiln owners and the daily wage earners, the outfit however urged them to name the outfit which has served the monetary demand.
Not naming the outfit concerned has many negative fall out, it said and added that this all that more since some rogues are collecting money from the public in the name of underground outfits.
People of Manipur should have the courage and conviction to say the truth, said the outfit and added that it is against their principle to threaten an extort from the poor and needy people.
The outfit also clarified that it had not taken Rs 25 thousand from a shop and Phoubakchao or involved in serving demand notices of Rs 30 thousand each on all the shops at Sekmaijin bazar.
The demands were served under the name of Tiger, said the outfit and added that there was the term Tiger in the outfit earlier, but the Tiger has been dispensed off.
There is also no question of Tiger serving the demand on its own accord.
