Imphal, December 20 2023: The Manipur Youth League's (MAYOL) long march for National regeneration was flagged off from Kangla Uttra Shanglen this morning.

The 19-day march "Ei-khoigee Anouba Laangon Gi Paojel Puba Lamsaang Khongchat" was flagged off by COCOMI convenor Jitendra Ningomba.

The main objective of the long march is to spread the message of peaceful co-existence, bring uniform development and restore peace in the State.

The long march will cover interior parts of Meitei village and public meetings would be held at different places in the course of the march.

Since early morning, a large number of youths, Meira Paibis and members of COCOMI and film artistes gathered inside the Kangla Fort and they lit the 'holy flame' at Kangla Uttra Shanglen.

Speaking to media persons, MAYOL convenor Asem Prince stated that there are many chronic issues which are detrimental to the collective interest of Manipur.Manipur is now lagging behind politically and economically as the State Govt is unable to take even a single decision independently and is dependent on others for almost everything, Prince said.

The aggression of Kuki narco-terrorists has put the State in a very difficult and complex situation.

"The ultimate goal of the violent campaign launched by Kuki narco-terrorists on May 3, 2023 is to wipe out the Meitei community from our ancestral land and establish their homeland in the State of Manipur using brute force", he continued.

He said that the Kuki narco-terrorists are driven by an evil intention to snatch the land of Manipur and establish Zelengam/Zogam and it is the bounden duty of all the indigenous people of the State to safeguard Manipur at any cost and prevent recurrence of the devastating Chahi Taret Khuntakpa.

Today all the indigenous people of the State are facing a grave threat from the illegal immigrants and thousands of houses of the indigenous people have been burnt down by outsiders, rendering them homeless.

The Kuki narco-terrorists attacked Meitei villages with sophisticated weapons and killed many indigenous people, he said.

The crises and the adversaries faced by the Meitei at present should not be left to some individuals alone but it should be faced by every Meitei collectively as a social movement to protect the Meitei community, he asserted.

"With a resolute and unified decision, we can overcome any challenge", he said before appealing to every citizen of the State to lend their support to this movement and collectively tackle the challenges.

The march would traverse far and wide and crucial meetings would be held at strategic junctures across over 40 locations.

After it was flagged off from Kangla Uttra Shanglen, the long march made its way to Chingmeirong from the northern gate of Kangla, crossed Imphal River and reached Ahallup Bazar.

The marchers then proceeded to Heingang Kang- jeibung where they held a meeting with the local people and had lunch.

After having lunch, they proceeded toward Awang Sekmai and passed through Mongjam, Achanbigei Bridge, Maibakhul, Koiren-gei, Leikinthabi and concluded their march for the first day at Awang Sekmai community hall where they would hold a public meeting and put up the night.

The marchers will proceed toward Lamsang tomorrow morning and hold a meeting with the locals at two different locations.

The 19-day long march will cover five districts of the State namely; Imphal West, Imphal East, Bish-nupur, Thoubal and Kak- ching and will conclude at Gambhir Singh Memorial Park, Canchipur on January 9 next year.
