Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy : Manipur suffer 9 wicket opening game loss to Railways

Manipur got off to poor start in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023-24 Group C campaign as they went down by 9 wickets at JSCA International Stadium Complex, Ranchi.
Railways won the toss and restricted Manipur at 112 for 5 after electing to bowl first.
Manipur faced a tough time early on and were reduced to 33 for 4 in 7.4 overs as Yuvraj Singh removed Karnajit Yumnam for 1 in the third over before Akash Pandey swept the following three wickets.
Prafullomani who came in for Karnajit however anchored well with an unbeaten knock of 52 runs off 52 balls and helped Manipur cross the 100 run.
K Priyojit was also unbeaten on 20 off 15 deliveries after Akash Pandey broke the 51-run fifth wicket stand between Prafullomani and RK Rex Singh (28 off 25 balls) in the 16th over.
Akash Pandey was pick of the Railways bowlers as he finished with the best figures of 4-0-6-4 (Four wickets in four overs conceding 6 runs) .
Pratham Singh of Railways scored an unbeaten 67 off just 37 deliveries to set up the 9 wicket victory in 10.1 overs.
Pratham saw Shivam Chaudhary getting run out for 35 runs in the fifth over (4.2) before he and Vivek Singh forged 63 runs for the second wicket and earned the huge win for Railways.
Manipur will play Goa in the next match at JSCA Oval Ground, Ranchi on October 17 .
