Kakching, October 23 2023: All Manipur Matam Ishei Kanglup (AMMIK) launched its 'Interaction programme with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)' at the relief camp opened at Kalyan Ashram at Kakching Sumak Leikai today.

Under this initiative, AMMIK will be organising a series of similar interaction programmes with IDPs who are currently taking refuge at various relief centres across the State with the primary objective of alleviating the pain and suffering of these survivors of the communal conflict under the theme 'We shall overcome some day' .

The launching programme was graced by AMMIK president Kh Thoiba; Peace Committee Kakching, vice-chairman Y Nilachandra; Social Scientist Dr Dhanabir Laishram and former Head of Department of Psychiatry, RIMS, Dr RK Lenin as the presidium members.

During the programme, Dr RK Lenin and Dr Dhanabir Laishram spoke at length on how the survivors who have been rendered homeless by the communal violence can deal with the prevailing tense situation in a peaceful manner and what remedial measures can be taken up to lead a normal life by adapting to the change.

Similar interaction programmes were also held at the Old Age home at Kakching Panjao Pallum and a relief camp opened at Langmeidong Girl's High School today.

AMMIK general secretary M Dhananjoy also informed that AMMIK will be organising a series of interaction programmes with IDPs across the State.

As a part of today's programme, artistes of AMMIK interacted with the displaced persons and also sung songs for them to create a light and healthy atmosphere.

The artistes also purchased the products made by the survivors of the relief camps in bid to support them and promote their welfare.
