Imphal, October 16 2023: The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has condemned in the strongest terms Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's statement "Manipur is no longer one State, it is divided into two States" .

This particular statement of Rahul Gandhi reflects total disrespect and disdain toward the continuous struggle of the people of Manipur to safeguard the territorial and administrative integrity of Manipur, AMUCO remarked in a statement.

It asked whether Rahul Gandhi's visit to the State in the wake of the violent crisis which erupted on May 3 was a peace effort or was he inciting Kuki-Zo militants to disintegrate Manipur.

Rahul Gandhi must not dare challenge the integrity of Manipur in his efforts to garner votes for the Congress party.

The people and AMUCO would fight all such challenges in a befitting manner, it asserted.

At a time when people's resentment against the BJP-led Government with regard to the ongoing crisis has reached the limits, Rahul Gandhi, by making such an outrageous and preposterous statement, was only inviting people's wrath, it said.

Rahul Gandhi should come out with a statement regarding his statement and Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (I) should take the responsibility of ensuring that Rahul Gandhi tenders an apology to the people of Manipur by October 20, AMUCO said.

Rahul Gandhi's response or non-response to the ultimatum would determine the fate of Congress party in Manipur, it added.
