MACKMAL meet demands justice to two students

Imphal, September 29 2023: Manipur Awang Chingkhei Kanba Clubs & Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (MACKMAL) convened public meet for Khundrakpam, Khurai and Lamlai assembly constituencies regarding the ongoing violence and adopted several resolutions.

The public meet for Khundrakpam AC was held at Sagolmang community hall while the same for Lamlai was held at Yorbung high school and for Khurai AC at Khurai Popular high school.

Common resolution arrived at the three meetings demanded punishment to culprits involved in the killing of two students Hemanjit and Linthoingambi, action against security personnel who used excessive force against agitating students, to return looted weapons only after getting assurance that no attack will be carried out on Meetei community and immediate rehabilitation and resettlement process for displaced people.

The public meet at Khurai popular high school started from 8pm and Meira Paibis from different localities of the constituency returned to their respective homes after endorsing the resolution.

However, large number youth gathered at the meeting venue and took a rally up to Lamlong bazar, where a clash broke out with security forces from 10.30pm.While the youth pelted stones and used sling shots, security forces fired tear gas shells and smoke bombs to disperse the youth.
