Demanding justice for the cold blooded murder of two young students by suspected Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists, the Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (MPYCC), NSUI Manipur and Janata Dal-United Manipur Youth Wing have submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister through the Governor.
A team led by MPYCC president Ningthoujam Popilal Singh, JD-U Manipur Youth Wing president Bhaktaraj Thiyam and NSUI Manipur president Md Kabir Ahmad went to Raj Bhavan and handed over the memorandum to Governor Anusuiya Uikey this afternoon.
The memorandum demands justice for the cold blooded murder of Phijam Hemanjit and Hijam Linthoingambi alias Luwanganbi.
The two students went missing on July 6 after they went out on a motorcycle before the photographs of their dead bodies surfaced on social media on September 25.The memorandum also condemned in the strongest terms the murder of Irengbam Chingkheinganba and Sagolshem Nganleiba Meitei and demanded justice.
The two youths from Sekmaijin Khunou went missing on July 4 before a video clip of their brutal cold blooded murder went viral on social media the next day.
Subsequently, they were assumed dead and the last rites were held with Pangong replicas (of their bodies) .
Thorough investigation by a competent authority into the excesses committed by security forces upon students in uniforms including firing live bullets was another demand of the memorandum addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
It also demands disqualification of the 10 Kuki MLAs (BJP-7, KPA -2 and Independent-1) who have been demanding a separate administration.
Speaking to media persons at the Raj Bhavan gate, N Popilal said that the recent unrest has severely affected youth and students.
The Manipur violence has exposed the failures and weaknesses of both the Central Government and the State Government which are often touted as double-engine Governments, Popilal said.
