Workshop on "Bell Metal" concludes

Imphal, September 29 2023: The 14-days long workshop cum training on "Bell Metal" organised by the Manipur Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited (MHHDCL) concluded today at Lamphelpat, Imphal.

The workshop cum training was conducted under the aegis of the Directorate of Handlooms & Textiles, Government of Manipur.

The closing ceremony of the workshop was attended by Handloom & Textiles, Director, Lamlee Kamei; MHHDCL, Managing Director, E Jeeten; Mutua Museum director, Mutua Bahadur and Bell Metal master trainer Aheibam Gope among others.

Speaking on the occasion, Lamlee Kamei shared that the workshop cum training was conducted to promote bell metal crafts of Manipur and conserve the heritage & traditions passed down the generation.

She stated that initiatives have been taken to obtain geographical indication (GI) tags for "Senga" to promote the indigenous handloom & handicraft sector.

She also enlightened the gathering on the Prime Minister (PM) Vishwakarma Scheme which is designed to uplift traditional artisans and craftspeople engaged in various occupations.

Lamlee Kamei further informed that under the scheme, artisans and craftspeople are eligible for loan upto Rs 3 lakh.
