Meetei Mayek coaching camp begins

Imphal, August 25 2023: Meetei Erol Eyek Loinasillol Apunba Lup (MEELAL) and Directorate of Language Planning & Implementation, Government of Manipur, jointly organised a Meetei Mayek coaching camp at Moirang Ibudhou Thangjing Guest House on Thursday.

The coaching camp was organised in collaboration with Lamangdong Pana MEELAL to teach Meetei Mayek to the displaced people who are currently taking refuge at the relief camp set up in the Guest House, said MEELAL in a release.

The inaugural function was attended by MEELAL president Kh Ingocha, working president Sadokpam Tomba Mangang, Pebam Ibohal of Churachandpur Khumujamba Meetei Leikai, Thokchom Jati of Phougakchao Ekhai and Lourembam Bilasini of Khumujamba Leikai as presidium members.

During the event, the participants observed two minute silence to pay respect to those who had lost their lives during the ongoing conflict and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.

Meetei Mayek books were also distributed to the inmates taking part in the coaching camp.

MEELAL secretary education Paonam Thakaba Meetei informed that the annual Meetei Mayek competition which was deferred since May due to the communal strife in the State will be held on September 24 .
