Imphal, December 20 2009: With much pomps and fanfare the 53rd edition of the Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament, 2009 has concluded today at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium, Imphal with five times winner TRAU, Kwakeithel lifting the trophy for the sixth times.

The All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) organised the championship under the aegis of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) in fond memory of the late king of Manipur Sir Churachand.

In the final match played today, the Tiddim Road Athletic Union (TRAU), Kwakeithel defeated the Tiddim Road Unique Gamy Players Union (TRUGPU), Nambol 1-0 and won the coveted trophy for the sixth times in the 53 years long history of the CC Meet.

Huge numbers of football fans from all over the state came to witness the final match of the biggest football event of the state.

The match started with players in high spirit to win the trophy.

The big gallery of the Khuman Lampak Main Stadium was echoed with clappings and loud voices of fans of both teams.

Both teams' players displayed a real tough fight against one another.

Each team trying to score their winning goal against one another, the players played the match with full determination and coordination to win.

However luck was on the side of TRAU when they won the match with a solitary goal which was scored in a surprise in the early minutes of the first half.

L Lolendro scored the solitary goal of TRAU in the 14th minute of the match.

TRUGPU's players were surprise and shocked with the sudden goal of TRAU which slips through their strong defence.

But they recovered soon and tried their best to equalise the score.

In their efforts to equalise the score, players of TRUGPU tried numerous goal attempts against TRAU throughout the remaining time of the match.

The match was played mostly in the half of TRAU.

But to their disappointment, they could not scored a single goal against TRAU.

The match concluded with TRAU once again winning the coveted CC Meet trophy for the sixth times.

Meawhile, TRUGPU who entered the final for the first time ended up with the runners up's title.

Later in the prize distribution ceremony, veteran footballers H Maipak from Brahmapur Nahabam and M Binoy from Laipham Khunou were honoured with mementos for their contribution towards football in the state.

Four match commissioners, 21 referees and three spotters were also honoured by presenting mementos.

Media persons were also honoured by presenting mementos for their contribution in the coverage of the tournament from the beginning.

Ksh Malemnganba of NISA was adjusted the male footballer of the year's title.

He was awarded a cash prize of Rs 10,000 along with the trophy.

K Rebika of MPSC was honoured with the female footballer of the year's title and was awarded a cahs prize of Rs 5,000 along with the trophy.

NEROCA, Sangakpham bagged the fair play team's trophy with a cash prize of Rs 3,000.L Ibungcha of TRAU, Kwakeithel was adjusted the best goal keeper's title and was awarded a cash prize of Rs 2,000 along with the trophy.

N Thoi of TRUGPU, Nambol won the best player's title which consists of a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 2,000 .

N Jimmy of NISA, Thangmeiband was adjusted the title of top scorer's title and was awarded a cash prize of Rs 2,000 along with a trophy.

Lunminlal Khongsai of TRAU was adjusted the title of man of the final match which consists of a running trophy and a cash award of Rs 2,000 .

The award of Oja Kamini Kumar Memorial Trophy Coach of the Year was conferred to Ng Bitan, coach of USA, Khurai.

He was honoured with a cash prize of Rs 5,000 along with a trophy.

Best defender's title which consists of a trophy and a cash award of Rs 5,000 was adjusted to Th Surjit of NEROCA, Sangakpham.

N Gouro of TRUGPU, Nambol was awarded the title of best mid-fielder of the final match which consists of a running trophy and a cash prize of Rs 5,000 .

The title of Oja Benudhar Memorial Trophy for the best referee which consists of a trophy and a cash award of Rs 5,000 was conferred to national referee I Rabichandra.

Runners up team TRUGPU, Nambol was awarded a cash prize of Rs 30,000 along with the trophy.

While winning team TRAU, Kwakeithel was awarded a cash prize of Rs 70,000 along with the winner's trophy.
