Imphal, March 23 2018:
The Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Manipur yesterday directed the apex football association of the State, All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) to hold fresh election.
The directive came after Football Club Zalen filed a petition to the Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Manipur seeking to keep the general body meeting proceedings held in May, 2016 and its annual report on hold, institute an enquiry and cancel the registration of AMFA as per Section 22 and 23 of MSR Act, 1989 and declare any order/letter/ memorandum issued by AMFA from 2008 till date null and void.
It was found that the annual general body meeting of AMFA was held on May 1, 2016 but L Ranjit Roy, general secretary of AMFA submitted a copy of proceedings to the Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Manipur on July 13, 2016, 72 days after the annual general body meeting which violates the Section 17 (1) of MSR Act, 1989 according to which reports and proceedings of every annual general body meeting should be submitted within 30 days to the Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Manipur.
For its failure to submit the reports of the proceedings and other related documents and for violating the MSR Act, the Registrar of Co-operative Societies ordered AMFA to hold a fresh election.
