Drugs worth Rs 7.24 Cr seized

Imphal, March 23 2018:
Personnel of 12 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) apprehended one drug peddler carrying approximately 1,44,800 WY tablets in 724 packets worth Rs 7.24 crore in the jungles of the Area of Responsibility of Company Operating Base Khudengthabi.
In a statement, the PRO of Assam Rifles said that acting on specific inputs, regarding carriage of contraband drugs via a jungle trail, an ambush party was launched and on March 22 a man who was carrying a bag on his back was trapped by the ambush party in the jungle at about 4 pm.
On checking his bag, WY tablets were recovered.
The man has been identified as Thongmang Kuki (42) of Khudengthabi was apprehended by the AR team for smuggling the contraband drugs.
The recovered drugs along with apprehendee was handed over to Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Imphal.
